HBO has terminated 'Westworld' after four seasons.

Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy, the creators of "Westworld" (HBO), had always asserted that they had a five-season plan for their science fiction series about a theme park populated by dishonest humans and robots with a conscience. The 1973 film "Metal Souls," which was based on the Michael Crichton novel, received a pretentious television remake. The android's uprising against its creator was the same as before.

The American chain spared no cost because it was the unofficial continuation of "Game of Thrones," whose conclusion had been agreed upon but not yet written. On pay television, Fantasy has carved out a sizable niche for itself.

Why not science fiction?

"Westworld," which featured a western-like aesthetic, was also produced by "Lost" director J. J. Abrams and starring actors like Ed Harris and Anthony Hopkins. The first season, which aired in the fall of 2016, was a hit with the critics, the audience (Internet users contributed their predictions; the most astute were correct), and with honours, as it received 22 nominations for the 2017 Emmys, making it the most nominated show overall (it was almost empty). But unlike "Game of Thrones," "Westworld" was losing viewers because of a complicated plot and the belief that one or possibly two seasons would have sufficed. Its biannual broadcast probably wasn't helpful. 36 episodes altogether.

The series still promised a fifth and final season that would take us back with Dolores to where it all began, so without a doubt, the news would be disappointing for many fans. This cancellation was brought on by changes made by Warner Bros. Discovery, which had an impact on a number of shows and films.

There won't be a fifth and final season of "Westworld," HBO finally announced this past Friday. The show's fourth season came to an end in August, and since then the network, which Discovery had fully acquired, has made no announcements regarding its future. Instead, it has been left to the show's creators and interpreters, who thought that a revival was soon to come.
