The 63-year-old British celebrity passed away. The Specials had seven top 10 hits in the UK. The group referred to Hall as one of the most gifted singer-songwriters and lyricists our country has ever produced.

The Specials, a British ska band that was formed in the 1970s and released an album of protest song covers last year, said on Monday that singer Terry Hall has passed away at the age of 63. (12.20.2022).

"We are sorry to inform you that Terry passed away after a brief illness. Our dear friend and brother, one of the greatest singers, songwriters, and lyricists this country has ever produced," The band released a statement on social media.

His music and appearances "reflect the very essence of life, joy, grief, humour, the battle for justice, but above all love," the group continued, praising his legacy of "great music and deep compassion."

Hall, who was born in Coventry, England, in 1959, rose to fame in the late 1970s with The Specials. Their popular track Ghost Town spent several weeks at the top of the UK charts in 1980.

Prior to The Specials' reformation and following performances in various formats, the musical icon has had other adventures. A Disc of an updated version of protest songs was published by the seasoned ensemble last year.

Before Hall and bandmates Neville Staple and Lynval Golding split from The Specials in 1981 to establish the Fun Boy Three, the group scored seven UK top 10 hits.
