The lead artist at the Glastonbury music festival will be Elton John.

2023's Glastonbury music festival will feature British singer Elton John as its main performer. It will take place outdoors in June at Worthy Farm in the southwest English county of Somerset.

The festival announced on Friday that the 75-year-old singer will perform at the storied Pyramid Stage in what will be his final UK appearance from his farewell tour, Farewell, via its Twitter account.

The event, known for the camping tents that attendees ride outside during the event days, will take place between June 21 and June 25 in the following year.

After the news broke, the singer released a statement in which he stated, "As the end of my Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour draws near, there is no more suitable way to bid my British fans farewell. They have been amazing and have helped me through all the highs and lows of my career.

Elton John went on to say, "I've long admired the festival's true and enthusiastic support for the best young talent," describing his upcoming Glastonbury appearance as "very emotional".

This will be "the last show in the UK on Elton's last tour, so we will close the Festival and mark this amazing point in our history with the mother of all the farewell," said Emily Eavis, one of the event's organisers.

In Europe, Australia, and New Zealand, the singer's most recent leg of the tour will be held next year.

The singers Paul McCartney and Billie Eilish were notable performers at this year's Glastonbury festival.
