The ruling of a Romanian judge resulted in the placement of social media influencer Andrew Tate and his brother Tristan under house arrest.

According to a ruling by the judges that was confirmed to AFP by the prosecution, the British-American influencer Andrew Tate and his brother Tristan, who were both arrested in Romania at the end of December for allegedly pimping, were released on Friday after filing an appeal. They will now be under house arrest.

The Bucharest court of appeal ruled on Friday that "house arrest is substituted with immediate effect" in place of the prosecutor's petition to extend pretrial detention.

The two brothers' custody has been extended multiple times, always at the request of the prosecution, despite their claims of innocence and opposition to their incarceration. The most recent extension was on March 22.

Throughout his detention, his defence has frequently criticised an empty case that lacks concrete evidence and denied any risk of travelling overseas by citing his clients' ties to the nation. Tristan Tate is the father of a baby born during his detention.

Just hours before the Celebrity Big Brother participant was released from prison in Romania, Andrew Tate responded to the South Park taunt on his Twitter account.

In the most recent South Park episode, Tate was made fun of and represented as Alonzo Fineski, a "toxic masculinity coach."

Tate tweeted a clip from the show along with the following message: "When proven innocent. I'm looking forward to making the greatest South Park episode ever."
