Zack Snyder's highly anticipated sci-fi epic, "Rebel Moon," is set to take audiences on an incredible journey through space and time. The official trailer for the film, titled "A Child of Fire," has just been released by Netflix, giving fans a taste of what's to come. Part 1 of the film will be available on Dec. 22, 2023, with Part 2, titled "The Scargiver," following on April 19, 2024.
In the star-studded sci-fi saga "Rebel Moon," the captivating Sofia Boutella, renowned for her role in "Kingsman: The Secret Service," takes on the role of Kora, an enigmatic warrior entrusted with safeguarding an isolated colony at the galaxy's fringes. As danger looms, the formidable Regent Balisarius (portrayed by the charismatic Ed Skrein) and his formidable Mother World army threaten the very existence of the colony. Undeterred, Kora embarks on a thrilling quest, assembling a ragtag team of outsiders hailing from neighboring planets. Together, they join forces to confront the oppressive regime and ignite the flame of rebellion, a battle that will shape the fate of their entire universe.
The cast of the movie includes Anthony Hopkins, Charlie Hunnam, Michiel Huisman, Djimon Hounsou, Staz Nair, Bae Doona, Ray Fisher, and several others.
The trailer showcases a stunning array of sci-fi and fantasy elements, including a prophesied princess, laser-filled spaceship battles, talking robots, and even a spider creature. Kora wields a glowing red laser sword, while a flying pegasus-like creature soars through the skies. The trailer promises an epic tale of redemption and revenge, with a battle that will determine the fate of the galaxy.
"Rebel Moon" is a passion project for Snyder, who originally conceived it as a pitch for a "Star Wars" story before Disney's acquisition of Lucasfilm. Drawing inspiration from "Star Wars" and Akira Kurosawa movies, Snyder has crafted an original sci-fi world that promises to captivate audiences.
Directed by Snyder himself, with a script co-written by Shay Hatten and Kurt Johnstad, the film is produced by Snyder, Deborah Snyder, Wesley Coller, and Eric Newman. The Stone Quarry and Grand Electric banners are behind the production, with Sarah Bowen serving as an executive producer.
"Rebel Moon" continues Snyder's successful partnership with Netflix after the release of "Army of the Dead," which garnered widespread popularity. With "Rebel Moon," Snyder plans to create a franchise for the streaming platform. In addition, he has also released a spinoff titled "Army of Thieves," and is currently working on a sequel and an anime spinoff series.
