Actress Anne Heche is still in a coma, life support will be withdrawn and the family announced that she will no longer survive.


The American starred in a car accident last week in Los Angeles. She will continue to be on a ventilator to determine if any of her remaining organs are viable for donation.


American actress Anne Heche has been officially declared brain dead and will be taken off life support after suffering a brain injury in a car accident in Los Angeles last week, according to her loved ones.


The 53-year-old actress, who remains in a coma and in critical condition, will remain connected to a ventilator to determine if any of her remaining organs are viable for donation, per Heche's wishes.


Heche, who is admitted to the West Hills Hospital Grossman Burn Center north of Los Angeles, suffered a "serious anoxic brain injury" in the Aug. 5 crash, according to a statement Thursday night on name of your family and friends. This injury is caused by a sustained lack of oxygen to the brain.


"We want to thank everyone for their kind wishes and prayers for Anne's recovery and to thank the dedicated staff and wonderful nurses who cared for Anne at West Hills Hospital Grossman Burn Center," said a representative for her loved ones.


“Sadly, due to her accident, Anne Heche suffered a severe anoxic brain injury and remains in a coma, in critical condition. He is not expected to survive," they said from his inner circle. "She has long since decided to donate her organs and is being kept on ventilators to determine if any are viable," the statement said. “Anne had a huge heart and touched everyone she met with her generous spirit. Beyond her extraordinary talent, she considered spreading kindness and joy to be her life's work, especially moving the needle of acceptance from the one she loves. She will be remembered for her fearless honesty and missed for her light," the statement continues.






The accident


The car that Heche was driving was going so fast that it left the road and burned when it hit the building, causing serious burns to the actress. Up to 59 firefighters worked to remove her from the rubble and take her to a nearby hospital in an operation that lasted 65 minutes and was questioned for taking another hour to reach the scene of the incident. Heche was able to communicate with difficulty at the time of her rescue, but lost consciousness soon after and has not regained consciousness. The conditions in which Heche got behind the wheel of her vehicle have also been the subject of intense controversy in recent hours, after she was recorded driving recklessly and erratically before colliding. As revealed by FoxNews, a Los Angeles police officer (LAPD) said that in the tests they carried out, evidence of drug use emerged in the hours prior to the tragedy. Heche was involved in another minor traffic incident just a few blocks before her accident.







The actress, who was a partner of actress Ellen DeGeneres and actor James Tupper, rose to fame in the late 1980s with her portrayal of Vicky Hudson and Marley Love on the soap opera "Another World." He established himself in Hollywood with the films "Donnie Brasco" (1997), "Volcano" (1997) and "I Know What You Did Last Summer" (1997).
