Micky Dolenz, member of The Monkees, sues the FBI for access to the report
Micky Dolenz, who was a member of the band in the 1960s The Monkees, has filed a lawsuit against the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). The drummer and singer wants to see all the information that US intelligence has on him and the other members of the band.
In 1967, an FBI informant attended The Monkees concert and wrote a report about it. Its content has been kept secret for a long time. The report was published in 2011, but many passages had been blacked out.
It was clear, however, that the informant had reported that the concert contained information with a "Left wing political nature." the monkees would have commented on the Vietnam War and the race riots.
Two months ago, Dolenz, 77, who is the only one of the band still alive, submitted a request to see the report uncensored. That request was not granted. Dolenz has now filed a lawsuit through a lawyer to be able to read the full report.
Dolenz's lawyer says there is still a report about the monkees. He also explains that the FBI investigated tapes and artists more frequently in the 1960s. According to him, because the FBI, then led by the controversial J. Edgar Hoover, had nothing to do with the so-called counterculture to which artists belonged. pop, according to him.
