The president confers Albanian nationality to Dua Lipa.

Dua Lipa and Albanian president Bajram Begaj

Dua Lipa, a 27-year-old British musician, received Albanian citizenship this past weekend. Although the musician was born and grown in London (United Kingdom), her parents were Kosovar Albanian, and Dua Lipa has always placed a high value on her Kosovar Albanian heritage. She has so used the fact that her Her Future Nostalgia Tour came to an end there to her advantage in obtaining citizenship. She received the official papers recognising her as an Albanian citizen from Bajram Begaj, the country's president.

Despite the fact that Dua Lipa was born in London in 1995, she has always been ecstatic about her Kosovar Albanian heritage. Her parents, Duakgkin Lipa and Anesa Rexha, who are both Albanian citizens and who currently reside in Kosovo, emigrated to the UK as refugees in 1992 and have since raised their family there. The singer has stated in numerous interviews that Albania is very important to her, and this past weekend she completed the process to become an Albanian citizen.

The singer, composer, and actress enjoys dual citizenship as of last Sunday, with the former being British and the latter being Albanian. Dua Lipa herself has celebrated and made public this success on her social networks. "I would like to thank Mayor Erion Veliaj and President Bajram Begaj for this award. My citizenship in Albania has been granted! Dua Lipa expressed her gratitude and pride on Instagram.

You can see how significant this Sunday has been for the singer in the picture that she posted on her Instagram. Dua Lipa makes an appearance while hugging the official documents that serve as proof of her nationality. The artist also gave her followers access to a video and some of the ceremony's images. Along with her parents, Dua Lipa attended the event with her younger siblings Rina, 21, and Gjin, 17. The Albanian has also utilised this significant occasion to pay tribute to her roots.

In Albania, people have responded to this news with great joy. Additionally, the artist was welcomed by Tirana's mayor, Erion Veliaj, who also celebrated this day. You're welcome, Dua Lipa. I'm pleased to have attended your citizenship ceremony. I had the privilege of seeing a woman like you in front of me who was honourable, talented, and proud of her heritage. In addition, the mayor made a statement about her concert tonight in Albania to commemorate the 110th anniversary of Albania's independence.
