In the tenth round at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Saturday night, Tyson Fury stopped the tough but woefully outmatched challenger in a grimly predictable manner. The referee, Victor Loughlin, intervened at the crucial moment to mercifully stop the brutal thrashing of Chisora, a 38-year-old man who has been in too many fights for his own good. Don Charles, Chisora's trainer, declined to save his own boxer, hence the bout was stopped far later than it should have been.

Fury kissed his opponents outside the ring in admiration. He then took the lead in leading the crowd in a raucous chant of gratitude for all Chisora had endured. Chisora was still bleeding from his mouth and his right eye was almost completely occluded. The crowd, some of whom shamefully booed as the battle came to a close, didn't appear to be concerned about the considerably more dangerous harm that had been done to Chisora's brain by the vicious punches Fury landed with razor-sharp accuracy.

It was their third encounter in the ring, and Fury had dominated their first two meetings to the point where they didn't need to finish this miserable trilogy. It was Chisora's 13th defeat in 46 fights, and if he keeps boxing, there are grave concerns for his health.

As the champion engaged in his crowd-pleasing antics, Nick Cave's Red Right Hand from Football's Coming Home was dragged into the soundtrack for Fury. Fury was welcomed warmly by the 60,000-strong throng while wearing a red tunic and a yellow cap with pom-poms to keep his bald head warm. As he undressed down to his bright red boxing trunks, he had the appearance of a mountain man.

Fury quickly gained the upper hand by measuring Chisora with his cutting blow. He defeated his seasoned opponent with deft counters and repeatedly shocked Chisora with a blistering hook. In the second, Chisora spread his arms widely to imply that he could withstand every blow from Fury and that he would have to suffer for his worth.

Chisora had to grasp the top rope in the third round to keep himself steady because he was probably already unconscious.

After the bout, Oleksandr Usyk and Tyson Fury enter the ring. Charles, who was in the challenger's corner, reacted by smacking Chisora in the face in a questionable attempt to get him to resist an utterly invincible Fury.
