The winner of the 71st edition of the most prestigious beauty pageant in the world was chosen in New Orleans as R'Bonney Gabriel, representing the United States. She beat out the two favourites, Amanda Dudamel of Venezuela and Andrena Martinez of the Dominican Republic, who placed second and third, respectively. Her predecessor, the Indian Harnaaz Sandhu, has crowned Gabriel.

R'Bonney Gabriel, the winner who is 28 years old and of Filipino descent from the United States, has been crowned the new Miss Universe. She is the first American woman of Filipino descent to receive this title. Dana Walker, her mother, is a citizen of the USA. Nevertheless, her ancestry can be traced back to her father, Remigio Bonzon "R. Bon'' Gabriel, who was born in the Philippines and immigrated to the United States to study psychology at the University of Southern California in Los Angeles.

The American is the ninth woman in the nation to win a new crown, the Force for Goog (Force for good), which is the most expensive crown in the competition's history. It is valued at 5.3 million dollars and is made up of 993 precious stones and a sapphire that weighs 45.14 carats.

The winner is a sustainable fashion designer, model, and sewing instructor. She is also the first Miss United States of Filipino origin, having attended the University of North Texas for her academic studies.

R'Bonney Gabriel, in particular, has graced the cover of the Philippine issue of Vogue. The Miss Universe pageant was moved to these dates so that it would not conflict with the World Cup in Qatar. As a result, the gala was held in 2023, and the winner earned the title of Miss Universe 2022.
