Harry Styles won the Grammy Award for Record of the Year with his album Harry's House (2022), essentially against all odds, beating Kendrick Lamar, Beyonce, Bad Bunny, and other musicians.

The British singer, who had already won Best Pop Vocal Album, was surprised and said, "Those kinds of things don't typically happen to people like him," alluding to his background as a member of the English working class and his well-known past as an employee of a tiny bakery in Redditch.

There were differing opinions, especially among some who thought Renaissance (2022) would triumph over Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers (2022) or perhaps A Summer Without You because of its instant cultural influence following its May 2016 publication. The American Academy of Music appears to have chosen a course of action that satisfied a livable quality requirement, created a narrative from the artist's seclusion, but, most importantly, did not have such a strong cultural impact.

Ultimately, Harry's House, with its focus on a refined and exquisite Pop with nods to the late 1970s and early 1980s, validates what is unquestionably already the most prosperous cycle of his solo career.
