The actor addressed the slap he received at the Oscars ceremony in 2022 in his new show "Selective outrage," which was live-streamed on Netflix.

An occurrence that has sparked ongoing conversation. On Saturday, American comedian Chris Rock brought up the smack he received from actor Will Smith at the Oscars event over a year ago. He mentioned this during his latest stand-up performance, which was shown live on the Netflix platform. "Anyone who thinks words hurt has never suffered a hit in the face," he remarked.

The incident that stole the spotlight at the 2022 Oscars is the focus of the episode, Selective Outrage. The comedian charges the actor with engaging in "selective outrage" himself. "It always hurts"

"You all know what happened to me (...) I got slapped about a year ago", recalls Chris Rock, before letting go: "It still hurts".

About the slap that has made headlines, the comedian doesn't hold back on the irony. I took that slap like Pacquiao," he remarked, alluding to the legendary Filipino boxer. He uses several vulgar phrases to refer to the actor while also making references to his wife and their personal life. He claims that his wife, Jada Pinkett Smith, the wife of Will Smith, "hurt him more than me" in reference to a rumoured extramarital relationship.

Chris Rock promises that he will never accept an interview on one of the most popular American talk shows, despite the curiosity generated by the occurrence. "Baby, I'm not a victim. (...) You'll never catch me sobbing during Oprah or Gayle "he affirms.

10 years of formal restriction

The comedian asserts that he has long appreciated the actor for his work in both music and film. Will Smith is much taller than me. In a movie, he portrayed Mohammed Ali. Do you think I went to an audition for that?" he asks. But, that emotion would have changed as a result of the slap.

Chris Rock was giving a speech at the 2022 Oscars when Will Smith abruptly entered the room and slapped him. The comedian had just made a joke about the actor's wife's alopecia. Will Smith then expressed regret and said he was stepping down as a member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. Also, he received a ten-year ban from ceremonies.
