Crystal Palace fires manager Patrick Viera after a 12 game losing streak.

Following the 1-0 loss to Brighton & Hove Albion, Premier League club Crystal Palace confirmed on Friday that manager Patrick Vieira had been fired after 20 months in the position.

Prior to Sunday's trip to Premier League leaders Arsenal, the loss puts the Eagles in 12th place in the standings, only three points above the bottom-tier position. In 12 games played in 2023 so far, Palace has failed to win, and Wednesday's loss was their fourth consecutive game without a goal.

In a statement, Palace chairman Steve Parish stated, "It is with great sadness that this difficult decision has been made.

"In the end, the league standings have become risky due to the outcomes over the last several months, and we believed a change was necessary to offer us the best opportunity of maintaining our Premier League membership.

"Having said that, Patrick has had a tremendous influence since joining us in the summer of 2021, and I as well as all of his teammates hold him in the highest regard. He led the group to a respectable 12th place and FA Cup semi final appearance at Wembley. Playing exciting football in a challenging and important season for the club given the adjustments we have made. workforce before his arrival.

"Patrick gave his all for the club, and we are all grateful for the work done by him and his colleagues. "The hiring process for a new manager is ongoing, and we will give you an update as soon as possible. Goalkeeping coach Dean Kiely will continue in that role, the statement said.

Osian Roberts, Kristian Wilson, and Sad Agoun, three members of Vieira's coaching staff, have also left the club. Among the candidates mentioned to succeed Vieira are Middlesbrough manager Michael Carrick and Burnley manager Vincent Kompany.
