In a surprising revelation, actor Jada Pinkett Smith admitted that she was taken off guard when her husband, Will Smith, slapped Chris Rock at the Oscars in 2022. Speaking to People magazine, Pinkett Smith confessed that she initially believed it to be a skit. "I thought, 'This is a skit,'" she shared.

Furthermore, Pinkett Smith disclosed that during the incident, she and Smith were actually separated for a period of six years. These revelations come ahead of the release of her upcoming memoir titled "Worthy," set to be published by HarperCollins imprint Dey Street Books later this month.

Discussing the Oscars incident in the interview, Pinkett Smith provided insight into her initial reaction. Apparently, Smith walked onstage during the awards show and approached Rock after the host joked about Pinkett Smith's shaved hair, attributed to her alopecia condition. "I was like, 'There's no way that Will hit him,'" Pinkett Smith recalled. "It wasn't until Will started to walk back to his chair that I even realized it wasn't a skit."

Once they were alone after the Oscars, Pinkett Smith expressed her concern to Smith, asking him if he was alright. The couple is currently in the process of figuring things out, Pinkett Smith stated. "We've been doing some really heavy-duty work together," she mentioned. "We just got deep love for each other, and we are going to figure out what that looks like for us."

Moreover, Pinkett Smith also spoke out about her mental health struggles in the interview, including her battle with depression and contemplation of suicide. She candidly shared that she turned to the psychedelic drug ayahuasca, which significantly improved her mental well-being. "Once I met Will, I completely abandoned my mental health. I was so intoxicated by him and our dynamic. I really felt like I'm cured," she explained. However, by the age of 40, Pinkett Smith found herself in a tremendous amount of pain. "I couldn't figure a way out besides death," she confessed. Thankfully, her suicidal thoughts dissipated after she started taking ayahuasca.

Pinkett Smith emphasized that her husband and their adult children have also explored ayahuasca for its transformative effects. This newfound intimate relationship with herself brought about by the drug has been instrumental in the healing process, according to Pinkett Smith's remarks.
